PART-TIME STUDENTS

The St. Martin Parish School Board shall permit students classified as seniors who have successfully completed all requirements through their junior year to attend school under one of the following alternatives:

  1. Be a full-time student; that is, take four (4) courses every day per semester for the full school year.

  2. Attend school for one-half of the school year.  This will only be allowed if a student has earned all credits required for graduation during the first semester of the senior year.

    1. Mid-term graduates shall be allowed to participate in graduation exercises in the spring.

    2. Mid-term graduates shall not be eligible to hold offices in clubs or organizations that are organized on a full year basis and shall not be eligible for honors that are given after mid-term.

  3. Part-time attendance for a full school year; that is, attend school for either one, two, or three periods each day instead of four periods.

In order for a student to be allowed to go part-time, he/she must meet the following conditions:

    1. Apply with the school principal or the guidance counselor, giving the reasons for wanting to for a partial day.  Only reasons such as work and college/trade school shall be considered for approval.

    2. Written verification of reason shall be submitted to the school by the employer or college/trade school.

    3. A parent or guardian must come to the school with the student applying for the part-time program, in order to sign a written agreement stating that the student will attend school regularly, leave the school campus as soon as the school day ends, will not return or loiter around the school campus after completing the school day, and be subject to all the rules and policies established by the St. Martin Parish School Board and the school which he/she attends.
