EMPLOYEE WEAPONS

It is unlawful for an employee to possess a firearm on school property or within 1000 feet of school property, or while on a school bus.  The area surrounding the school campus or within 1000 feet of any such school campus, or within a school bus shall be designated firearm-free zones.  The St. Martin Parish School Board, in cooperation with local governmental agencies, and the Louisiana Department of Education, shall designate and mark firearm-free zones which surround all schools and school property.  Any employee possessing a firearm or school property or at any school-related function, may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.

Any employee who possesses any sort of instrument with the intent to use it as a weapon may be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.  Such possession shall be prohibited on school property, a school bus, or at any school-related function, excluding any chemical sprays normally used for self-protection.
