BOARD ATTORNEY

State law provides that the Attorney General of the State of Louisiana is required to provide School Boards with legal opinions as requested, and it is the responsibility of district attorneys to act as counsel for School Boards.  The St. Martin Parish School Board, however, may employ outside counsel to assist with the legal affairs of the Board and school district.

The special counsel shall consult and advise the Board and the Superintendent on all matters of a legal nature as well as propose, review, and approve legal documents pertaining to the School Board and/or school district.
