ST. MARTIN PARISH SCHOOL BOARD

SPECIAL MEETING

JULY 1, 2015 – 5:00 P.M.

BREAUX BRIDGE, LOUISIANA

M I N U T E S

The St. Martin Parish School Board met this day with the following members present:  Messrs., Mark Hebert, President, Steve Fuselier, Aaron Flegeance, James Blanchard, Russel C. Foti, Burton Dupuis, Richard Potier, Frederic Stelly, Floyd Knott, and Ms. Wanda B. Vital.

ABSENT:          None

On the motion of Mr. Potier, seconded by Mr. Flegeance, and unanimously carried, the Board approved the termination of the Memorandum of Understanding existing between the St. Martin Parish Government and the St. Martin Parish School Board relative to the use of the St. Martin Parish Technology Building.

A motion was made by Mr. Knott and seconded by Mr. Potier to appoint one mechanic for the Bus Shop and discuss the other at the next Board meeting.

A substitute motion was made by Mr. Dupuis and seconded by Mr. Foti to approve the recommendations of the Special Transportation Committee, as follows:

a)         Proceed with hiring two mechanics for the bus shop

b)         Hire a Secretary/Parts runner upon the retirement of Mr. Gerald Dugas in December 2015

The substitute motion was then voted on and unanimously carried.

On the motion of Mr. Foti, seconded by Mr. Stelly, and unanimously carried, the Board went into Executive Session.

On the motion of Mr. Flegeance, seconded by Mr. Fuselier, and unanimously carried, the Board came out of Executive Session.

No action was necessary for the following item discussed in Executive Session:

a)         Pending litigation (Thomas vs. St. Martin Parish School Board, USDC for Western District of Louisiana, Docket No. 6:65 CV 11314)

On the motion of Mr. Potier, seconded by Ms. Vital, and unanimously carried, the Board adjourned.
