ST. MARTIN PARISH SCHOOL BOARD

SPECIAL MEETING

APRIL 30, 2014 – 4:15 P.M.

BREAUX BRIDGE, LOUISIANA

M I N U T E S

 

 

The St. Martin Parish School Board met this day with the following members present:  Messrs., Russel C. Foti, President, Aaron Flegeance, James Blanchard, Richard Potier, Floyd Knott, and Ms. Wanda Babin.

 

ABSENT:          Mr. Steve Fuselier, Mr. Robert E. Hollier, Mr. Frederic Stelly, and Mr. Mark Hebert

 

On the motion of Mr. Blanchard, seconded by Ms. Babin, and unanimously carried, the Board went into Executive Session.

 

ABSENT:          Mr. Fuselier, Mr. Hollier, Mr. Stelly, and Mr. Hebert

 

On the motion of Mr. Blanchard, seconded by Mr. Potier, and unanimously carried, the Board came out of Executive Session.

 

ABSENT:          Mr. Fuselier, Mr. Hollier, Mr. Stelly, and Mr. Hebert

 

A motion was made by Mr. Blanchard and seconded by Knott to follow the recommendation of the administration regarding Student A.

 

A substitute motion was made by Mr. Potier and seconded by Ms. Babin for Student A to attend JCEP for 30 days then return to his/her regular school setting.  The substitute motion was voted on and failed, as follows:

 

FOR:    Mr. Potier

OPPOSED:       Ms. Babin, Mr. Flegeance, Mr. Blanchard, and Mr. Knott

 

ABSENT:          Mr. Fuselier, Mr. Hollier, Mr. Stelly, and Mr. Hebert

 

The original motion was then voted on and carried, as follows:

 

FOR:     Ms. Babin, Mr. Blanchard, Mr. Knott, and Mr. Foti

 

OPPOSED:       Mr. Flegeance and Mr. Potier

 

ABSENT:          Mr. Fuselier, Mr. Hollier, Mr. Stelly, and Mr. Hebert

 

A motion was made by Mr. Blanchard and seconded by Mr. Flegeance to sustain the appeal offered by the mother regarding Student B.

 

A substitute motion was made by Mr. Potier to give the student a nine (9) day out-of-school suspension then return to his/her regular school setting.  The substitute motion died for lack of a second. 

 

The original motion was then voted on and carried, as follows:

 

FOR:    Ms. Babin, Mr. Flegeance, Mr. Blanchard, and Mr. Knott

 

OPPOSED:       Mr. Potier

ABSENT:          Mr. Fuselier, Mr. Hollier, Mr. Stelly, and Mr. Hebert

 

On the motion of Mr. Blanchard, seconded by Mr. Flegeance, and unanimously carried, the Board adjourned.
