ST. MARTIN PARISH SCHOOL BOARD

SPECIAL MEETING

DECEMBER 19, 2012 – 5:00 P.M.

BREAUX BRIDGE, LOUISIANA

M I N U T E S

The St. Martin Parish School Board met this day with the following members present: Messrs., James Blanchard, President, Floyd Knott, Aaron Flegeance, Russel Foti, Steve Fuselier, and Ms. Wanda Babin.

ABSENT:              Mr. Mark Hebert, Mr. Richard Potier, Mr. Robert E. Hollier, and Mr. Frederick Stelly

Superintendent Lavergne opened the meeting with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.

On the motion of Ms. Babin, seconded by Mr. Fuselier, and unanimously carried, the Board went into Executive Session.

ABSENT:              Mr. Hebert, Mr. Potier, Mr. Hollier, and Mr. Stelly

On the motion of Mr. Potier, seconded by Ms. Babin, and unanimously carried, the Board came out of Executive Session.

ABSENT:              Mr. Hebert, Mr. Hollier, and Mr. Stelly

A motion was made by Mr. Fuselier and seconded by Mr. Foti to follow the recommendation of the administration regarding Student C.

A substitute motion was made by Mr. Potier and seconded by Ms. Babin to allow Student C to return to his/her regular school setting.  The substitute motion was then voted on and tied.  The president exercised his right to vote and voted in opposition to the motion.  The motion failed, as follows: 

FOR:                      Mr. Flegeance, Mr. Potier, and Ms. Babin

OPPOSED:            Mr. Knott, Mr. Foti, Mr. Fuselier, and Mr. Blanchard

ABSENT:              Mr. Hebert, Mr. Hollier, and Mr. Stelly

The original motion was then voted on and carried.

OPPOSED:            Mr. Potier and Ms. Babin

ABSENT:              Mr. Hebert, Mr. Hollier, and Mr. Stelly

A motion was made by Mr. Foti and seconded by Mr. Knott for Student D to remain at JCEP, complete drug counseling, and then return to his/her regular school setting.

A substitute motion was made by Mr. Potier and seconded by Ms. Babin to allow Student D to return to his/her regular school setting, effective December 20, 2012.  The substitute motion was then voted on and tied.  The president exercised his right to vote and voted in opposition to the motion.  The motion failed, as follows: 

FOR:                      Mr. Fuselier, Mr. Potier, and Ms. Babin

OPPOSED:            Mr. Knott, Mr. Foti, Mr. Flegeance, and Mr. Blanchard

ABSENT:              Mr. Hebert, Mr. Hollier, and Mr. Stelly

The original motion was then voted on and unanimously carried.

ABSENT:              Mr. Hebert, Mr. Hollier, and Mr. Stelly

On the motion of Mr. Potier, seconded by Ms. Babin, and unanimously carried, the Board adjourned.
