ST. MARTIN PARISH SCHOOL BOARD

SPECIAL MEETING

MAY 16, 2012 – 5:00 P.M.

BREAUX BRIDGE, LOUISIANA

M I N U T E S

The St. Martin Parish School Board met this day with the following members present: Messrs., James Blanchard, President, Floyd Knott, Robert Hollier, Mark Hebert, Aaron Flegeance, Russel C. Foti, Steve Fuselier, Richard Potier, and Ms. Wanda Babin. 

ABSENT:  Mr. Frederic Stelly

Superintendent Lavergne opened the meeting with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.

On the motion of Mr. Potier, seconded by Fuselier, and unanimously carried, the Board went into Executive Session.

On the motion of Potier, seconded by Flegeance, and unanimously carried, the Board came out of Executive Session.

A motion was made by Mr. Potier and seconded by Mr. Foti, to waive policy (requires 2/3 vote) and allow Student A to participate in extra-curricular activity (graduation).  The motion failed for lack of a 2/3 vote as follows:

FOR: Mr. Fuselier, Mr. Foti, Mr. Potier, Mr. Hebert

OPPOSED: Mr. Flegeance, Mr. Blanchard, Mr. Hollier, Mr. Knott

ABSTAINED:  Mrs. Babin

ABSENT:  Mr. Stelly

On the motion of Mr. Potier, seconded by Mr. Foti and carried, the Board approved the recommendation of the administration regarding Student B.

FOR: Mr. Fuselier, Mrs. Babin, Mr. Blanchard, Mr. Foti, Mr. Hollier, Mr. Potier, Mr. Knott, Mr. Hebert

OPPOSED: Mr. Flegeance

ABSENT:  Mr. Stelly

On the motion of Mr. Foti, seconded by Mrs. Babin, and unanimously carried, the Board adjourned.
