BREAUX BRIDGE, LOUISIANA MINUTES
The St. Martin Parish School Board convened on this day at 5:00 P.M. at the Breaux Bridge Instructional Center with the following members present: Messrs. James Blanchard, President, Floyd Knott, Mark Hebert, Aaron Flegeance, Russel C. Foti, Richard Potier, Robert E. Hollier, Steve Fuselier, and Ms. Wanda Babin.
ABSENT: Mr. Frederic Stelly
The meeting was called to order by James Blanchard, President. Superintendent Lavergne opened the meeting with a prayer and the pledge of allegiance.
The following St. Martin Parish Teachers/Principals of the Year were honored:

Ms. Betty Thibodeaux, Teacher’s Aide at Breaux Bridge Elementary, was recognized as the Taylor and Sons October Employee of the Month.
The Board recessed for ten minutes.
On the motion of Mr. Hebert, seconded by Mr. Flegeance, and unanimously carried, the Board approved the following consent agenda items:
a) Minutes of the following meetings:
• Regular Meeting of October 5, 2011
• Special Meeting of October 19, 2011
• Finance Committee Meeting of October 19, 2011
b) Finance Committee recommendation to purchase 8 new buses through a piggy/back on a bid awarded by the Vermilion Parish School Board
c) 2009 Bond Program
1) Partial Substantial Completion of Teche Elementary New Classrooms project, for Building I only
d) Purchase of property from Pellerin Life Insurance Company, including adjacent property for secondary access
e) Granting a servitude for the passage of an electric power line through Section 16, Township 9s, Range 7E (The Bulliard Agricultural Lease)
f) St. Martin Parish Test Security and Student Test Data Policy
g) Ratification of broker for Workmen’s Compensation Insurance
h) Ratification of action giving consent given to General Mills Sales, Inc.
ABSENT: Mr. Potier
The Board heard from the following candidates: Dr. Jim Guillory, BESE Board in District 8, Craig ”Rev” Gregory, Council Member District 7, and Donald Cravins, Sr., State Senator.
ABSENT: None
On the motion of Mr. Hebert , seconded by Mr. Fuselier, and unanimously carried, the Board approved the request for permission for Our Savior’s Church to work with JCEP students.
On the motion of Mr. Knott, seconded by Mr. Hollier, and carried, the Board approved to allow Mr. Mike Taylor to survey Section 16, T9S S8E for potential timber sales then call for bids from timber companies for logging of said property.
ABSTAINED: Mr. Hebert
Board Member Floyd Knott made brief comments pertaining to "Robert’s Rule of Order".
On the motion of Mr. Fuselier, seconded by Mr. Hebert, and unanimously carried, theBoard went into Executive Session.
On the motion of Mr. Hebert, seconded by Mr. Fuselier, and unanimously carried, the Board came out of Executive Session.
On the motion of Mr. Flegeance, seconded by Mr. Foti, and unanimously carried, the Board approved settlement authority in the matter entitled Kevin Hebert (Kaden Hebert), et al v. Dr. Jim Adams, et al 16th JDC, Parish of St. Martin, Docket No. 2008-4814-B.
On the motion of Mr. Hebert, seconded by Mr. Flegeance, and unanimously carried, the Board approved the following Personnel Changes:

On the motion of Mr. Stelly, seconded by Mr. Hebert, and unanimously carried, the Board approved the contractual Occupational Therapy/Physical Therapy services as needed through Christy Therapy Services-effective October 2, 2011.
Superintendent Lavergne informed the Board Bridget Bergeron was his recommendation for the position of Assistant Principal at St. Martinville Primary School. On the motion of Mr. Fuselier, seconded by Mr. Flegeance, and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Ms. Bridget Bergeron as Assistant Principal of St. Martinville Primary School.
Superintendent Lavergne informed the Board Tashona Hypolite was his recommendation for the position of Assistant Principal at Parks Primary/Parks Middle School. On the motion of Mr. Flegeance, seconded by Mr. Foti, and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Ms. Tashona Hypolite as Assistant Principal of Parks Primary/Parks Middle School.
On the motion of Mr. Hebert, seconded by Mr. Foti, and unanimously carried, the Board adjourned.
