ST. MARTIN PARISH SCHOOL BOARD

SPECIAL MEETING

OCTOBER 19, 2011 - 5:00 P.M.

BREAUX BRIDGE, LOUISIANA

M I N U T E S

The St. Martin Parish School Board met this day with the following members present: Messrs., James Blanchard, President, Floyd Knott, Mark Hebert, Aaron Flegeance, Russel C. Foti, Richard Potier, and Robert E. Hollier.

ABSENT:               Mr. Steve Fuselier, Mr. Frederic Stelly, and Ms. Wanda Babin

Superintendent Lavergne opened the meeting with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.

On the motion of Mr. Potier, seconded by Mr. Hebert, and unanimously carried, the Board went into Executive Session.

On the motion of Mr. Flegeance, seconded by Mr. Foti, and unanimously carried, the Board came out of Executive Session.

ABSENT:               Mr. Fuselier, Mr. Stelly, and Ms. Babin

On the motion of Mr. Hebert, seconded by Mr. Flegeance, and carried, the Board approved to follow the recommendation of the administration regarding Student A.

FOR:                       Mr. Blanchard, Mr. Knott, Mr. Hebert, Mr. Flegeance, Mr. Foti, and Mr. Hollier

OPPOSED:             Mr. Potier

ABSENT:               Mr. Fuselier, Mr. Stelly, and Ms. Babin

A motion was made by Mr. Hebert and seconded by Mr. Foti to follow the recommendation of the administration regarding Student B.

A substitute motion was made by Mr. Potier to give the student a nine (9) day out-of- school suspension.  The substitute motion died for lack of a second.

The original motion was then voted on and carried.

FOR:                       Mr. Blanchard, Mr. Knott, Mr. Hebert, Mr. Flegeance, Mr. Foti, and Mr. Hollier

OPPOSED:             Mr. Potier

ABSENT:               Mr. Fuselier, Mr. Stelly, and Ms. Babin  

On the motion of Mr. Hebert, seconded by Mr. Hollier, and unanimously carried, the Board adjourned.
