ST. MARTIN PARISH SCHOOL BOARD

SPECIAL MEETING

AUGUST 18, 2010 - 5:00 P.M.

BREAUX BRIDGE, LOUISIANA

M I N U T E S

The St. Martin Parish School Board met this day with the following members present: Messrs., Aaron Flegeance, President, Floyd Knott, Mark Hebert, James Blanchard, Steve Fuselier, Richard Potier, Rodney Ledoux, Frederic Stelly, and Ms. Wanda Babin and Mrs. Barbara Latiolais.

ABSENT:             None

Superintendent Lavergne opened the meeting with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.

On the motion of Mr. Blanchard, seconded by Mr. Fuselier, and unanimously carried, the Board went into Executive Session.

On the motion of Mr. Potier, seconded by Mr. Fuselier, and unanimously carried, the Board came out of Executive Session.

On the motion of Mr. Potier, seconded by Mr. Ledoux, and carried, the Board approved to reinstate denied credits due to excessive absences for Students A, B, and C.

ABSTAINED:      Mr. Hebert

A motion was made by Mr. Ledoux and seconded by Mr. Blanchard to follow the recommendation of the administration regarding the student discussed in Executive Session, which involves denial of participation in extracurricular activities.

A substitute motion was made by Mr. Potier and seconded by Ms. Babin to allow the student discussed in Executive Session to participate in extracurricular activities.  The substitute motion was then voted on and failed, as follows:

FOR:                     Mr. Potier and Ms. Babin

OPPOSED:          Mr. Knott, Mr. Hebert, Mr. Blanchard, Mrs. Latiolais, Mr. Fuselier, Mr. Ledoux, and Mr. Stelly

The original motion was then voted on and carried.

OPPOSED:            Mr. Potier and Ms. Babin

On the motion of Mr. Blanchard, seconded by Mr. Stelly, and unanimously carried, the Board adjourned.
