MINUTES
The St. Martin Parish School Board convened on this day at 5:00 P.M. at the Breaux Bridge Instructional Center with the following members present: Messrs. Aaron Flegeance, President, Floyd Knott, Mark Hebert, James Blanchard, Steve Fuselier, Richard Potier, Rodney Ledoux, Frederick Stelly, and Mrs. Barbara Latiolais and Ms. Wanda Babin.
ABSENT: None
The meeting was called to order by Mr. Aaron Flegeance, President. Superintendent Lavergne opened the meeting with a prayer and the pledge of allegiance.
Ms. Vicki Guidry, Title I Secretary, was recognized as the Taylor and Sons July Employee of the Month.
Superintendent Lavergne presented Academic Growth awards and special flags for public display to five schools.
Consider and/or approve the Minutes of the Special Meeting of July 14, 2010 was removed from the consent agenda.
On the motion of Mr. Blanchard, seconded by Mrs. Latiolais, and unanimously carried, the Board approved the consent agenda, as follows:

Allowing the following projects to proceed through construction documents and advertise for bids as soon as plans are ready:
Teche Elementary New Classrooms (Courville Architects)
Parks Primary New Classrooms (Architectural & Engineering Consultants)
Request for permission to advertise for 2009 Bond Project - JCEP Gym Air Conditioning
The following annual contracts to Poche Prouet Associates, LTD.:
Fire Marshall Assistance and Record Plans 2010-2011 not to exceed $25,000 as needed
Mechanical System Maintenance Program 2010-2011 in the amount of $27,000 annually
Asbestos Testing at various schools as needed 2010-2011
Mold Investigation at various schools as needed 2010-2011
Continuation of JBHM School Improvement at St. Martinville Junior High School
Crisis Response Policy for the 2010-2011 School Year
On the motion of Mr. Hebert, seconded by Mr. Blanchard, and carried, the Board approved the minutes of the Special Meeting of July 14, 2010.
OPPOSED: Mr. Potier
Dr. Malcolm Duplantis, Louisiana State Director for JBHM Education Group, presented reports for Breaux Bridge Junior High and St. Martinville Junior High Schools.
The Board discussed keeping the Carpentry Class at the Louisiana Technical College, Evangeline Campus and paid by General Funds.
On the motion of Mr. Blanchard, seconded by Mrs. Latiolais, and unanimously carried, the Board went into Executive Session.
On the motion of Mr. Fuselier, seconded by Mrs. Latiolais, and unanimously carried, the Board came out of Executive Session.
On the motion of Mr. Knott, seconded by Mr. Potier, and unanimously carried, the Board approved the following Professional Personnel Changes:

On the motion of Mr. Hebert, seconded by Mr. Ledoux, and carried, the Board approved to table the appointment for the 12 month Custodian at Cecilia Primary School.

A motion was made by Mr. Blanchard and seconded by Mrs. Latiolais to approve the Paraprofessional Personnel Changes.
An amendment to the motion was made by Mr. Hebert and seconded by Mr. Ledoux to approve the Paraprofessional Personnel Changes, excluding the appointment of the 12 month Custodian at Breaux Bridge Primary School. The amendment was then voted on and unanimously carried.

On the motion of Mr. Blanchard, seconded by Mrs. Latiolais, and carried, the Board approved the principal’s recommendation, Mr. Perry Babineaux as the 12 month Custodian at Breaux Bridge Primary School.
FOR: Mr. Knott, Mr. Blanchard, Mrs. Latiolais, Mr. Fuselier, Mr. Potier, and Ms. Babin
OPPOSED: Mr. Hebert, Mr. Ledoux, and Mr. Stelly
On the motion of Mr. Blanchard, seconded by Mrs. Latiolais, and unanimously carried, the Board approved the recommendation of the Superintendent and appointed Crystal Laperouse as the Secretary at Breaux Bridge Junior High School.
Superintendent Lavergne informed the Board Louis Blanchard was his recommendation for the position of Assistant Principal at Breaux Bridge Senior High School. On the motion of Mr. Ledoux, seconded by Mr. Hebert, and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Mr. Louis Blanchard as the Assistant Principal of Breaux Bridge Senior High School.
On the motion of Mr. Hebert, seconded by Mrs. Latiolais, and unanimously carried, the Board adjourned.
