ST. MARTIN PARISH SCHOOL BOARD

SPECIAL MEETING

APRIL 21, 2010 – 5:00 P.M.

BREAUX BRIDGE, LOUISIANA

M I N U T E S

The St. Martin Parish School Board met this day with the following members present: Messrs., Aaron Flegeance, President, Floyd Knott, Mark Hebert, James Blanchard, Steve Fuselier, Richard Potier, Rodney Ledoux, Frederic Stelly, and Ms. Wanda Babin.

ABSENT:               Mrs. Barbara Latiolais

Superintendent Lavergne opened the meeting with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mr. Grant Schleuter, Bond Attorney, made a presentation regarding the bond money.

On the motion of Mr. Blanchard, seconded by Mr. Potier, and unanimously carried, consider and/or approve a resolution protesting the actions of State Superintendent Pastorek was added to the agenda.

ABSENT:               Mrs. Latiolais

On the motion of Mr. Ledoux, seconded by Mr. Blanchard, and unanimously carried, the Board approved a resolution protesting the actions of State Superintendent Pastorek.

ABSENT:               Mrs. Latiolais

On the motion of Mr. Blanchard, seconded by Mr. Fuselier, and carried, the Board approved a resolution to schedule a tenure hearing.

FOR:                       Mr. Knott, Mr. Hebert, Mr. Blanchard, Mr. Fuselier, and Ms. Babin

OPPOSED:             Mr. Potier, Mr. Ledoux, and Mr. Stelly

ABSENT:               Mrs. Latiolais

On the motion of Mr. Blanchard, seconded by Mr. Fuselier, and unanimously carried, the Board went into Executive Session.

ABSENT:               Mrs. Latiolais

On the motion of Mr. Fuselier, seconded by Mr. Ledoux, and unanimously carried, the Board came out of Executive Session.

ABSENT:               Mrs. Latiolais

On the motion of Mr. Ledoux, seconded by Ms. Babin, and carried, the Board approved to follow the recommendation of the administration regarding the student discussed in Executive Session.

OPPOSED:             Ms. Babin and Mr. Potier

ABSENT:               Mrs. Latiolais

On the motion of Mr. Potier, seconded by Mr. Fuselier, and carried, the Board approved the request for permission to advertise for a Technology Facilitator.

OPPOSED:             Mr. Knott

ABSENT:               Mrs. Latiolais

On the motion of Mr. Ledoux, seconded by Mr. Fuselier, and carried, the Board approved to amend the item relative to the renewal of an administrative contract to read consider amending and rescinding the renewal of an administrative contract.

OPPOSED:             Mr. Potier

ABSENT:               Mrs. Latiolais

On the motion of Mr. Ledoux, seconded by Mr. Stelly, and carried, the Board approved to amend and rescind the two-year contract renewal for Ms. Katrina Williams, Principal of Breaux Bridge Elementary School.

FOR:                      Mr. Fuselier, Mr. Flegeance, Mr. Ledoux, Mr. Stelly, and Ms. Babin

OPPOSED:             Mr. Potier

ABSTAINED:       Mr. Knott, Mr. Hebert, and Mr. Blanchard

ABSENT:               Mrs. Latiolais

On the motion of Mr. Hebert, seconded by Mr. Fuselier, and unanimously carried, the Board adjourned.
