SPECIAL MEETING - SEPTEMBER 16, 2009
BREAUX BRIDGE, LOUISIANA
MINUTES
The St. Martin Parish School Board convened on this day at 5:00 P.M. at the Breaux Bridge Instructional Center with the following members present: Messrs., Mark Hebert, President, Floyd Knott, Steve Fuselier, James Blanchard, Richard Potier, and Ms. Wanda Babin.
ABSENT: Messrs. Aaron Flegeance, Rodney Ledoux, Frederic Stelly and Mrs. Barbara Latiolais
The meeting was called to order by Mr. Mark Hebert, President. Superintendent Lavergne opened the meeting with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.
On the motion of Mr. Blanchard, seconded by Ms. Babin and unanimously carried, the Board went into Executive Session.
On the motion of Mr. Potier, seconded by Mr. Fuselier and unanimously carried, the Board came out of Executive Session.
On the motion of Mr. Blanchard, seconded by Mr. Fuselier and unanimously carried, the Board approved the staff’s recommendation for Student A.
A motion was made by Mr. Blanchard and seconded by Ms. Babin to approve the staff’s recommendation for Student B and Student C.
A substitute motion was made by Mr. Potier and seconded by Mr. Fuselier to approve the request made by Student B and Student C. The substitute motion was then voted on and tied. The President exercised his right to vote and voted against the substitute motion. The substitute motion failed as follows:
FOR: Steve Fuselier, Richard Potier
OPPOSED: Mr. Blanchard, Ms. Babin, Mr. Hebert
ABSTAINED: Mr. Knott
The original motion was then voted on and carried.
FOR: Mr. Knott, Mr. Blanchard, Ms. Babin
OPPOSED: Mr. Potier
ABSTAINED: Mr. Fuselier
On the motion of Mr. Knott, seconded by Ms. Babin, and unanimously carried, the Board adjourned.
