ST. MARTIN PARISH SCHOOL BOARD
SPECIAL MEETING
FEBRUARY 26, 2007 – 4:00 P.M.
BREAUX BRIDGE, LOUISIANA
M I N U T E S
The St. Martin Parish School Board met this day with the following members present: Messrs., James Blanchard, President, Floyd Knott, Steve Fuselier, Aaron Flegeance, Mark Hebert, Richard Potier, Rodney Ledoux, Frederic Stelly, and Mrs. Barbara Latiolais and Ms. Wanda Babin.
ABSENT: None
On the motion of Mr. Ledoux, seconded by Mr. Fuselier, and unanimously carried, consider and/or approve plan of action regarding pending litigation was added to the agenda in Executive Session.
On the motion of Mr. Knott, seconded by Mr. Flegeance, and unanimously carried, the Board went into Executive Session.
On the motion of Mr. Hebert, seconded by Mrs. Latiolais, and unanimously carried, the Board came out of Executive Session.
ABSENT: Mr. Potier
On the motion of Mr. Fuselier, seconded by Mr. Hebert, and carried, the Board approved to authorize Attorney Bob Rainer to continue with negotiations and possibly a settlement regarding the litigation of Weatherford Company vs. St. Martin Parish School Board and the case of Positive Air Ink vs. St. Martin Parish School Board.
RECUSED: Mrs. Latiolais
ABSENT: Mr. Potier
On the motion of Mr. Ledoux, seconded by Mr. Fuselier, and unanimously carried, the Board approved to follow the recommendation of the administration regarding Employee A, which involves termination of employment.
ABSENT: Mr. Potier
The Board advised Employee B to continue to follow the policy. No action was taken.
A motion was made by Mr. Hebert and seconded by Mr. Ledoux to follow the recommendation of the administration regarding Employee C and terminate his/her employment.
Ms. Babin made a substitute motion to transfer Employee C to Parks Middle School. The substitute motion died for lack of a second.
The original motion was then voted on and carried, as follows:
FOR: Mrs. Latiolais, Mr. Hebert, Mr. Ledoux, Mr. Stelly, and Mr. Blanchard
OPPOSED: Ms. Babin
ABSTAINED: Mr. Knott, Mr. Fuselier, and Mr. Flegeance
ABSENT: Mr. Potier
Dr. Walter Gonsoulin presented information to the Board regarding an after school program. On the motion of Mr. Ledoux, seconded by Mrs. Latiolais, and unanimously carried, the Board approved participation with One Love Ministries in an after school program.
On the motion of Mr. Flegeance, seconded by Mr. Hebert, and unanimously carried, the Board approved to re-instate the travel policy for Board Members.
ABSENT: Mr. Potier
On the motion of Mr. Fuselier, seconded by Mr. Ledoux, and unanimously carried, the Board adjourned.
