ST. MARTIN PARISH SCHOOL BOARD

SPECIAL MEETING

JANUARY 23, 2007 – 5:00 P.M.

BREAUX BRIDGE, LOUISIANA

M I N U T E S

 

The St. Martin Parish School Board met this day with the following members present: Messrs., James Blanchard, President, Floyd Knott, Steve Fuselier, Aaron Flegeance, Mark Hebert, Richard Potier, Rodney Ledoux, Frederic Stelly, and Mrs. Barbara Latiolais and Ms. Wanda Babin.

  

ABSENT:        None

 

On the motion of Mr. Mr. Potier, seconded by Mr. Flegeance, and unanimously carried, the Board went into Executive Session.

 

On the motion of Mr. Hebert, seconded by Mr. Ledoux, and unanimously carried, the Board came out of Executive Session.

 

While in Executive Session, the Board interviewed applicants for the position of Superintendent.

 

Board Vice-President Mark Hebert asked the Executive Secretary, Wynde Calais, to issue a ballot to each Board Member to vote on Superintendent.  The ballots were turned in to Ms. Calais who handed the ballots to Mr. Gregory Hardy, Legal Counsel, to read.

 

Steve Fuselier, District I  – Mr. Richard Lavergne

Wanda Babin, District II – Ms. Lottie Beebe

Aaron Flegeance, District III – Mr. Richard Lavergne

James Blanchard, District IV – Mr. Richard Lavergne

Barbara Latiolais, District V – Ms. Lottie Beebe

Rodney Ledoux, District VI – Mr. Richard Lavergne

Richard Potier, District VII – Ms. Lottie Beebe

Frederick Stelly, District VIII – Mr. Richard Lavergne

Floyd Knott, District IX – Ms. Lottie Beebe

Mark Hebert, District X – Mr. Richard Lavergne

 

Mr. Richard Lavergne was appointed Superintendent of St. Martin Parish Schools.

 

A motion was made by Mr. Ledoux and seconded by Mr. Hebert to allow the Board President, Vice-President, and Mr. Aaron Flegeance to meet with the new Superintendent to negotiate and draft his employment contract.  

 

Mr. Potier made a substitute motion to allow a board member from the opposing side to draft the new Superintendent’s employment contract.  The substitute motion died for lack of a second.

 

On the motion of Mrs. Latiolais, seconded by Mr. Stelly, and unanimously carried, the Board adjourned.
