ST. MARTIN PARISH SCHOOL BOARD

SPECIAL MEETING

JULY 19, 2006 – 5:00 P.M.

BREAUX BRIDGE, LOUISIANA

M I N U T E S

 

The St. Martin Parish School Board met this day with the following members present: Messrs., Floyd Knott, President, Mark Hebert, Steve Fuselier, James Blanchard, Richard Potier, Rodney Ledoux, Paulma Johnson, and Mrs. Barbara Latiolais.  

 

ABSENT:        Mr. Anthony Wiltz and Mr. Frederic Stelly

 

On the motion of Mr. Blanchard, seconded by Mr. Fuselier, and unanimously carried, the Board went into Executive Session.

 

ABSENT:        Mr. Wiltz, Mr. Stelly, and Mr. Johnson

 

On the motion of Mrs. Latiolais, seconded by Mr. Fuselier, and unanimously carried, the Board came out of Executive Session.

 

ABSENT:        Mr. Wiltz and Mr. Stelly

 

On the motion of Mrs. Latiolais, seconded by Mr. Johnson, and unanimously carried, the Board approved the request for a zone transfer for Student A.

 

ABSENT:        Mr. Wiltz and Mr. Stelly

 

On the motion of Mr. Johnson, seconded by Mr. Potier, and unanimously carried, the Board approved the request for a zone transfer for Student B.

 

ABSENT:        Mr. Wiltz and Mr. Stelly

 

A motion was made by Mr. Johnson and seconded by Mr. Potier to reinstate denied credits for the Spring Semester 2005-2006 for Student C.

 

Mr. Hebert made a substitute motion, seconded by Mr. Fuselier, to follow the recommendation of the administration for Student C.  The substitute motion was then voted on and carried, as follows:

 

FOR:    Mr. Hebert, Mr. Fuselier, Mrs. Latiolais, Mr. Blanchard, and Mr. Ledoux

OPPOSED:      Mr. Potier and Mr. Johnson

ABSENT:        Mr. Wiltz and Mr. Stelly

 

A motion was made by Mr. Johnson and seconded by Mr. Potier to grant the same privileges as the other students and allow Student D to return to his/her regular school setting.

 

A substitute motion was made by Mr. Hebert and seconded by Mr. Blanchard to follow the recommendation of the administration regarding Student D, which involves attendance at JCEP for a period of twelve (12) weeks or until the student earns his/her way out and the student is denied extra-curricular privileges for nine (9) calendar months.  The substitute motion was then voted on and carried, as follows:

 

FOR:    Mr. Hebert, Mr. Fuselier, Mrs. Latiolais, Mr. Blanchard, and Mr. Ledoux

OPPOSED:      Mr. Potier and Mr. Johnson

ABSENT:        Mr. Wiltz and Mr. Stelly

 

Superintendent Haaga addressed the Board regarding the St. Martin Parish School Board Policy GAHB – Political Activities.

 

On the motion of Mr. Ledoux, seconded by Mr. Blanchard, and unanimously carried, the Board adjourned.
