ST. MARTIN PARISH SCHOOL BOARD

SPECIAL MEETING

FEBRUARY 15, 2006 – 5:00 P.M.

BREAUX BRIDGE, LOUISIANA

M I N U T E S

The St. Martin Parish School Board met this day with the following members present: Messrs., Floyd Knott, President, Mark Hebert, Steve Fuselier, James Blanchard, Richard Potier, Rodney Ledoux, Frederic Stelly, Paulma Johnson, and Mrs. Barbara Latiolais.   ABSENT:        Mr. Anthony Wiltz

On the motion of Mr. Blanchard, seconded by Mr. Hebert, and unanimously carried, the Board went into Executive Session.

On the motion of Mrs. Latiolais, seconded by Mr. Potier, and unanimously carried, the Board came out of Executive Session.

ABSENT:        Mr. Wiltz

A motion was made by Mr. Fuselier and seconded by Mrs. Latiolais to follow the recommendation of the administration regarding Student A, which involves expulsion and attendance at JCEP for a period of twelve (12) weeks, with a review after nine (9) weeks, allowing the student to  participate in his/her graduation ceremony.

            ABSENT:        Mr. Wiltz

Mr. Potier made a substitute motion to allow Student A to return to the regular school setting and participate in his/her graduation ceremony.  The substitute motion died for lack of a second.

The original motion was then voted on and unanimously carried.

            ABSENT:        Mr. Wiltz

A motion was made by Mr. Fuselier and seconded by Mrs. Latiolais to follow the recommendation of the administration regarding Student B, which involves expulsion and attendance at JCEP for a period of twelve (12) weeks, with a review after nine (9) weeks, allowing the student to  participate in his/her graduation ceremony.

            ABSENT:        Mr. Wiltz

 Mr. Potier made a substitute motion, seconded by Mr. Johnson, to allow Student B to return to the regular school setting and participate in his/her graduation ceremony.  The substitute motion was then voted on and failed, as follows:

            FOR:    Mr. Potier and Mr. Johnson

            OPPOSED:      Mr. Hebert, Mr. Fuselier, Mrs. Latiolais, Mr. Blanchard, and Mr. Ledoux

            ABSTAINED:       Mr. Stelly

            ABSENT:        Mr. Wiltz

            The original motion was then voted on and unanimously carried.

            On the motion of Mr. Ledoux, seconded by Mr. Potier, and unanimously carried, the Board adjourned.
